Let’s talk about balancing poses!

Today I recorded a video on how to do one of my favorite balancing poses, Half Moon Pose:

This powerful balance is a great way to strengthen the outer muscles of the hip on the lifted leg as well as strengthen the quadriceps on the standing leg. Balancing poses can be challenging if you’re not aware of your core so as you take on any balance, remember to focus a bit on drawing the belly button in towards the spine. This activates the rectus abdominus muscle, which runs from the pubic bone to the sternum.

Balancing is not a matter of standing perfectly still; while you might find those moments of stillness, often it’s more like slight movements occur. The challenge is to avoid frustration in these moments and tap into your sense of where you’re limbs are in space, what anatomical actions you’re doing and how you can adjust to find more steadiness.

Learning anatomy as you practice is a great way to absorb the information versus just reading a book. All my online classes provide lots of anatomy information so you can learn as you practice. For my current online classes, which you can download for just $10 each, visit my online class page.
