I woke up today in a funk. Not sure why, but by now, I’ve come to realize that it usually is connected to disappointment which really translates to fear. Fear of failure, fear of not living up to my potential.. you know the drill. We all go there from time and again and when you work for yourself, I’ve found that I put a lot of pressure on myself to try to get it all done, even when I’m not really sure I know what “all” of “it” actually is.

So, I woke up, in a funk and looking for a way to tap into my potential. You know, that feeling where you’re inspired. For me, there are two things that can really get me there- music, sun and yoga.

So, today, unfortunately, even though it’s sunny out, it’s about 20 degrees. So I had to settle for yoga and music indoors. Ok, fine. So I decided to go on youtube and instead of just playing my current music on my ipod, I trolled around for a bunch of different songs. Aerosmith, James Taylor, Justin Bieber, Eminem, The Beatles, Katie Perry.. it was a really eclectic mix. I did a free form flow, made it a little dance, sang (a lot) and stopped several times to kiss the dog. Easily within a few minute of moving I started to feel better. Then, within a few more minutes of moving, I started to feel inspired. I started to connect more to my creativity, my love of yoga and song ( as well as Bailey Rose). I felt strong, alive and awake.

What inspires you? Music, running, yoga, performing? Whatever it is, you must do it. Regularly. Daily. Through being inspired, you’ll be better at everything else you do today.
