I’m so happy to report that my book, “Stretched: Build Your Yoga Business, Grow Your Teaching Techniques” is finally done! It took a few weeks to get the cover right but it’s ready. I just need to set it up on Amazon and if you’d like to get one, you can!

I wanted to share with you the quote from the inside cover of my book. When I read it in Stephen Cope’s “The Great Work of Your Life,” (an amazing book, by the way), I knew it was exactly what I was looking for:

“ …… we cannot achieve greatness unless we lose all interest in being great. For our own idea of greatness is illusory, and if we pay too much attention to it we will be lured out of the peace and stability of the being God gave us, and seek to live in a myth we have created for ourselves. It is, therefore, a very great thing to be little, which is to say: to be ourselves. And when we are truly ourselves we lose most of the futile self-consciousness that keeps us constantly comparing ourselves with others in order to see how big we are.” Thomas Merton

I picked this quote because it really captures what I believe to be the essence of teaching yoga. When we teach, we can’t strive for greatness as the primary goal. We have to place the act of being ourselves among all other things as the priority. That, and of course, being of service to our students. When we forget, or as Thomas Merton says, “lose all interest in being great,” only then do we relax into the space of being ourselves. This is what makes for wonderful, inspiring, authentic teachers. It’s one of the hardest things to do, especially as we are bombarded by images, words and actions that might lead us to stray from our true nature.

I will post the link to purchase the book as soon as it’s set up online.

Namaste!
