beach-down-dog1My posts tend to lean more towards the philosophical and spiritual but today, I’m writing about a more practical issue. Fact: yoga keeps you fit during the winter and maintains running fitness.

How do I know this? Because for the past two winters, I’ve decreased my running because I hate the cold. I’ve increased my yoga frequency and replaced my daily runs with daily elliptical machine use for at least 30 minutes a day, at least 3 times week. I went for a run today and despite what they say ( you start losing running fitness after only 3 days off) I was fine and ran a solid 40 minute 5  miler.

So, if you’re faint of heart when it comes to running outside in winter and have been cozy in the warm yoga studio all winter, do not fear that first run back. You’ll be fine.

Also, please take note: This coming Saturday, February 21, from 1-3 pm I am teaching a bootcamp yoga class. What the heck does that mean? It means it’s a challenging way to work out and try yoga or, for you more experienced students, it’s a great way to mix up your practice with some fun new poses. We’ll throw in some cool music, do a little meditation, strengthen, stretch and have a great rest at the end. What better way to prepare for a fun Saturday night?? $20 bucks.
