Bare Bones Yoga Certified Teachers

Bare Bones Yoga Certification Program

The Bare Bones Yoga Anatomy and Teaching Certification Program recognizes teachers who have completed the two signature programs offered by Karen Fabian and as such, have demonstrated the knowledge and ability to teach with clear, highly accessible cues focused on anatomy, action, alignment, while bringing in an appreciation for all yoga has to offer, including an ability to connect deeply to one’s body and mind.

The two signature programs that have prepared teachers for certification are the Blueprint Learning Program, an anatomy training program supported by a multi-module online course and in person coaching via Zoom conference calls, and a 6 month mentorship program which requires one on one training with Karen Fabian to ensure the foundation of knowledge built in the BLP is solid and supporting the development of further knowledge through intensive one on one work together. Certified teachers also have completed a 200 Hour training at a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance prior to enrolling in the Certification program.

The Bare Bones Yoga Anatomy and Teaching Certification Program is specifically in anatomy and the development of teaching skills to distinguish it from general yoga training programs. This certification recognizes that teachers know:

  • The fundamentals of anatomy, including key bones, joints, muscles and muscles in action;
  • An in-depth understanding of how muscles work in yoga poses
  • An understanding of the fascial network of the body and its contribution to overall movement
  • Techniques for myofascial release and how they might be helpful to integrate into a yoga practice
  • An ability to help students modify poses based on their needs, the presence of an injury or any other condition
  • An ability to teach safely, while still challenging students
  • An ability to answer student questions in an in-depth way and provide students with specific exercises, sequences and MFR techniques they can use to increase function and range of motion
  • A knowledge of the types of cues to provide given the situation of the class and provide them in such a way that they are highly accessible
  • An ability to create sequences based on different anatomical themes.

Bare Bones Yoga Certified Teachers also have participated in personal development and business development coaching and as such have focused on areas including:

  • Developing a mission and purpose for their teaching career
  • Identified self-limiting beliefs holding them back from being confident and clear in their teaching and developed action steps for pushing through these self-limiting beliefs
  • Identified business plans for their part time or full time teaching career, indicating there is a clear sense of direction supporting what they are doing on the business side of their teaching.

Benefits of the Program:

  • Recognition and acknowledgment of the hard work applied during the Blueprint Learning Program and the Mentorship Program through the status of Certification as well as all the knowledge and practical applicability to teaching
  • Ongoing support via (optional) enrollment in the Certification Membership Program, which will provide monthly coaching calls focused on further development of tactical skills like cueing, discussion of any questions around anatomy, support building sequences, business development and other support around mentorship (pricing to be shared with teachers once certified)
  • Listing on website as a Certified Teacher with any accompanying contact information for referrals
  • A dedicated episode on Karen’s podcast, “Conversations for Yoga Teachers” designed to highlight teaching skills and story
  • A 20% discount on any training or future online learning program.

As the program is beginning in 2020, teachers are in the process of completing their initial steps in the program.
