Relaxing gets a bad rap in my book sometimes. I’m Type A and Type A’s are always busy (at least that’s me). Relaxing just makes me feel guilty and I spend my time thinking about what “else” I should be doing. So, yesterday, I put away the computer and after teaching my yoga class at 9, spent the rest of the day doing fun things. I pulled out an old book on yoga by Iyengar I love and re-read some of it. ( still fantastic in it’s simplicity but at the same time, profound). I went for a five mile walk through Boston and looked at the remaining snow. I watched people going to Superbowl parties throughout the city. I stopped at a bookstore and finally used a gift card I had to buy a book and a good old fashioned lap desk to use when I’m using my laptop and don’t have a desk nearby (remember those?).
I had sushi for dinner and watched the Superbowl just for fun. I didn’t multi-task, didn’t have my phone, didn’t go online.. I just watched, ate and even slept a little. It was wonderful.
I woke up today feeling like I had a vacation. It’s actually hard to get the gears going this morning!
