Let’s talk about how money and how issues around money can impact your teaching. You might be wondering why a podcast about yoga teaching would dive into issues of money. Well, first off, we’re getting paid for the services we provide, even if we sometimes offer classes for free. So, we’ve got to make decision about setting our rate. However, there are lots of issues many of us have around money; stress and worry being among two of the most prevalent. And this can effect our health and how we carry ourselves when we teach. Today’s episode gets into ALL of this.
At the end, I invite you to my April 30th online Master Class on anatomy, covering the hip and spine. To sign up for that, click here.Â

Hi Karen,
First of all, thank you for your beautiful podcasts.
I teach for two years now. Every day my classes are different because same people join my classes each day. They like it when the poses are different each day. Also, I always try to feel the energy around me and offer what people might need. I often see or hear yoga classes or podcasts like yours which inspire me to teach in my class. The students which come to my classes are both advanced and beginners. So, I always try to modify and add to the pose to fit the class for everybody.
Please guide me here as I actually do what you suggest is not a good idea.
Thank you.

Polina, thank you for your note. It sounds like things are going well for you with your teaching so perhaps changing things would not make sense. I only offer my perspective based on my own experience and the view that as a newer teacher, it’s challenging to manage all that’s involved in teaching a class, let alone have to remember a new sequence from class to class. I can speak to this a little in the anatomy facebook group too. I think this would be an excellent topic. I would say just to keep aware of if you’re feeling overwhelmed around sequence building because if that’s the case, perhaps try one standard sequence for a while. It doesn’t mean that it’s the exact same from class to class but it’s basically the same with a few variations. So glad you’re enjoying the podcast! Karen
