Well, after a long break to create lots of video and podcast content, I’m back to writing a blog. I decided to “go analog” and get back to nurturing my writing “muscles.” After writing two books and an anatomy manual and blogging for years, I think I just got a bit burnt out. But yesterday, I was inspired to write again and while I wondered if people would read a blog these days, when there’s a ton of audio and video content, I knew it was something I felt driven to do.
I will make this brief though because there’s one thing I know: People have really short attention spans. So, having said that, let me get right to today’s theme:
Taking inspired action.
Now, I’m talking to yoga teachers here specifically. Take a moment and ask yourself: ” If time and money were no obstacle, what would you be inspired to do to grow as a teacher? This is such a powerful exercise is just the act of ASKING a really good question. All too often, we get caught up in asking unhelpful questions like, “Why don’t I get more views on my videos about yoga?” or “Why don’t more people come to my classes?” These kinds of questions put us in victim mode and bring our energy down.
Instead, take the next few minutes and meditate on the question above. See what comes up for you if you remove all the barriers that most of us connect to; things like, “no time/no money.” Instead, all your mind to wander. Indulge yourself. See what you feel inspired to do.
Once you have something, or maybe a few things, write them down. Now, start to create action around them. What skills or contacts or knowledge do you need to make this a reality? Do you know where you’ll get it? How will you feel once you achieve this?
Allowing yourself to tap into your intuitive sense and define what “inspired action” is to you starts to build momentum. There is nothing more powerful than momentum! If you want to take it a step further, write your ideas on a post it note and post it on your bathroom mirror. Better yet, find someone who has a true interest in your growth and share it with them. Ask them to hold you accountable for taking some steps forward in the next 30 days to make it a reality.
I’m glad the blog is back! It feels great to have my fingers flying across the keyboard!
