WELCOME to the Bare Bones Yoga Podcast: Conversations for Yoga Teachers! This is EPISODE 2 and in this episode, we’re going to tackle a tough subject: SELF LIMITING BELIEFS. My first episode was an introduction to the podcast and if you missed that one, you can go back and catch it on this podcast page.
Here in this second episode, I wanted to hit the ground running with a subject that I think is so important for yoga teachers to address within themselves but one that rarely gets discussed. Think about it: When was the last time you shared with a colleague that you were feeling “less than†when it came to teaching and more about what was behind that feeling?
It can be really hard for teachers to admit these things to themselves let alone other teachers. It’s also not all that uncommon to feel isolated as many teachers don’t have a teaching mentor with whom you can discuss the fears and doubts you have. In my virtual coaching sessions with teachers, I hear a number of concerns and while they all take on a different tone, the common thread is usually fear.
So, listen to this episode where I break down all five as well as share strategies to address each one. See some of the feedback on this episode below:
This is an awesome podcast, Karen. I have had most of these self-limiting beliefs and am still working with some of them after completing YTT 4 years ago. For the most part, I know how to address them, but listening to your podcast reinforced what to do and helped me to know that I’m not alone in these feelings. Thank you for sharing from your heart about a topic that impacts most all of us!
Sheila, thanks so much for taking a moment to write this. I am so thrilled that it touched you in this way. I truly believe that getting these thoughts out there diminishes their power over us. I am so glad to hear you say that you have ways to address them and that you were aided as well by listening. If you think there is someone else that might like it, please share it with them. Thank you for taking the time to listen! More coming soon! Thanks, Karen
